In an order issued Monday, the department said that because of staffing issues related to the pandemic, the department has been unable to process most renewal applications for exemption numbers, known as E-numbers. The 90-day extension applies to E-number holders whose numbers are set to expire within 60 days of the governor's stay-at-home order, issued in response to the global outbreak of the virus, which causes the respiratory disease COVID-19.
