Ala. Agency Will Waive Fees For Late Food Biz Sales Taxes

The Alabama Department of Revenue will waive late payment penalties for businesses that prepare meals, snacks and beverages that cannot timely pay their February, March and April sales tax liabilities.

In a statement issued Thursday, the department said it will waive penalties for returns filed by June for those food service businesses as relief for the impact of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19.

The department added that similar relief is available to other businesses that are significantly affected by the coronavirus and the public health measures to address its spread.
