By George Clements ( September 6, 2022, 3:01 PM EDT) -- From the moment we walk into our first law school class, students are advised to put their heads down and memorize hundreds of pages of case law. Students are told they must memorize every ratio going back to the 1700s and then apply that knowledge to a hypothetical fact pattern. It can feel as though our ability to memorize and regurgitate case law on an exam will determine our futures. We are forced into a mindset that we must, at all costs, do this better than our classmates. This makes for a hyper-competitive environment where students are focused on themselves and view their classmates as competition....
