Law360 Canada (August 23, 2022, 12:50 PM EDT) -- The British Columbia courts are hosting a special sitting next month to reflect on how they functioned during the COVID-19 pandemic, an event which will also offer an opportunity to honour members of the judiciary and the legal community whose deaths were not otherwise publicly marked due to pandemic-related circumstances.

The B.C. Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and provincial court will host the sitting Sept. 8 in the Great Hall at the Vancouver Law Courts at 4:30 p.m. PST. The event will feature remarks by B.C. Chief Justice Robert Bauman, B.C. Supreme Court Chief Justice Christopher Hinkson and provincial court Chief Judge Melissa Gillespie, as well as other special guests.

The special sitting will also offer an opportunity to look forward in terms of court operations. Members of the public are invited to attend, and the event will be live-streamed on Zoom here.
