Alberta announces new funding for restorative justice grants

Law360 Canada (November 18, 2021, 8:51 AM EST) -- Alberta has announced new funding for its community restorative justice grants, which are available to non-profit organizations which provide restorative justice services and referrals to communities in the province.
Grants of up to $50,000 are available for eligible non-profits, which include community-based organizations, youth justice committees and Indigenous communities. Funding for the grant program is made available through the Victims of Crime and Public Safety Fund.

“The Alberta Community Restorative Justice Grants are an important part of our multi-faceted approach to protecting Albertans and reducing crime,” said Minister of Justice and Solicitor General Kaycee Madu. We are proud to support the organizations on the front line of our efforts to support victims while finding ways to prevent criminals from reoffending.”
A total of $720,000 is being allocated. Last year, funding went to 22 organizations.
The application period for interested organizations runs until Dec. 15. Applications are available
online.
