B.C. provincial court announces resumption of traffic hearings at some locations

Law360 Canada (June 23, 2020, 11:37 AM EDT) -- The B.C. provincial court has announced it is now ready to resume scheduling traffic hearings in some locations.

In order to keep the public safe, court users, court staff and judicial officers safe and physically distant while providing access to justice, the court has worked together with Court Services Branch (including the Sheriff Service) and Corporate Management Services Branch to identify alternate hearing locations and/or alternate hearing times to accommodate people attending these hearings. More information about locations can be found here.

The court says all of these locations were assessed by an experienced professional consultant to ensure they meet the health and safety requirements established by the provincial health officer and WorkSafeBC. Parties will be sent a new notice of hearing that will include the date, time and location (including the address) of the hearing. Start times will be staggered so that all participants are not at the hearing location at the same time.
