OBA award winners announced ahead of June 19 gala

Law360 Canada (April 11, 2025, 3:54 PM EDT) -- The Ontario Bar Association (OBA) has announced the winners of this year’s association awards. The recipients will be honoured at the OBA Awards Gala on June 19 in Toronto.

According to the OBA’s release, these individuals and organizations are being recognized for their contributions to the legal profession in Ontario and their service to the OBA. This year’s winners are:

Award for Distinguished Service: 
  • The Hon. Darla Wilson, Court of Appeal for Ontario
  • Steve Pengelly, Legal Aid Ontario
  • Raymond Leclair, LAWPRO

Joel Kuchar Award for Professionalism and Civility:
Barbara Legate, Legate Injury Lawyers

David Scott Award for Pro Bono Law:
Louis Frapporti, Gowling WLG

Linda Adlam Manning Award for Volunteerism:
Angela Ogang, AngeLaw

Orlando Da Silva Award for Improvement of Mental Wellbeing in the Justice Sector:

  • Voices for Mental Health, Ministry of the Attorney General
  • Teresa Donnelly, Ministry of the Attorney General

The Heather McArthur Memorial Young Lawyers Award:
Adam Goldenberg, McCarthy Tétrault LLP
(This award will be presented at the OBA’s Young Lawyers Gala on May 22.)
